NIGERIAN ‘YOOTS’

When Emmanuel Macron won his country’s confidence to be their next President, Nigerian youth shouted for the umpteenth time how the youth need to take over the affairs of this country up to the Presidency, how they’ve been unfairly treated, blah, blah, blah. They were grieved. For sometime now, there has been chatter; attempts at building a coalition of youth, feeble protests that the youth of this country have not been given opportunities to hold political office and areas of responsibility. It didn’t help much that Emmanuel Macron is the President of France at 39! It just added salt to injury! Our elders have long been blamed for hogging the driver’s seat, using and disenfranchising the youth. They have been blamed for every evil that has...

THE UNPRECEDENTED WOMEN’S ‘PUSSYHAT’ MARCH.

To be honest I was a bit confused as to why there was a Women’s March in not just USA but Australia, UK, Germany, Japan, France and even Kenya with numbers that quadrupled expectations. Going through the fog of the reasons it boiled down to mainly the perception that the Trump administration was going to: – To take away the right to their bodies and reproductive rights aka right to abortion and tax payers paying for it, -To take away the right to be homosexuals with all the natural rights of heterosexuals and some, -entrench misogyny and then; – the more serious issues of registering Muslims and deporting illegal immigrants, attack against Blacks and all the other issues. It was refreshing to see “Material Girl” Madonna all...

ALL PROGRESSIVES DEMOCRATIC PEOPLES’ CONGRESS

When the All Progressives Congress (APC) stuck out its tongue at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) because Hon. Tambuwal, then Speaker of the House of Representatives defected in the most public display of disloyalty by coming out of the closet as an APC man, the party forgot the basic 26th Rule of Power: KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN and the very basic Law of Karma. APC took its eye of the ball and allowed itself to be visibly seen indulging in cheap theatrics. No one is saying that politicians can’t cross carpet but the impunity with which it was done and how such defectors are “rewarded” in their new parties sends the wrong signals. Ah, you are thinking about Triple F? He doesn’t count. He just went back home. When APC...

OPEN LETTER TO GENERAL MUHAMMADU BUHARI

Good day General (Sir, Baba), Forgive me. I’m not quite sure on how to address you although I have a sneaky feeling your new moniker will be the ‘People’s General’. You like? I have never written you before in spite of your three times attempt to be president, I am wondering why. However, this year it seems you are more serious about taking the seat and so I think it is only wise if I write at this time. Frankly speaking, I don’t understand what majority of Nigerians see in you that is not already resident in quite a few other Nigerians. I have always thought that late Tunde Idiabong was the power behind the throne and that you were kind of lost without him. It might not have taken you four attempts. Anyway, once you...

CLUELESS BED FELLOWS

When I looked up the world standard definition of “clueless” as “having no knowledge, understanding or ability” I realized I might have been a tad unfair on the political parties. The word “clueless” has been thrown around and tightened like noose round President Jonathan’s neck I thought it would be fun to throw the noose around our politicians’ necks as well. However, they do have knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian electorate; in that sense they are not clueless. To apply it more broadly to them as parties is however subjective because in the long run, they do have the ability to mislead us. After writing all that I am beginning to think The electorate is really the clueless one! As one...
